Voices of the Sea is a theatre production developed by young people in Burgas, based on months of collecting real-life stories about the impact of climate change along the Black Sea coast. The performance, which was a novelty for the city, brings to life authentic experiences of individuals whose livelihoods and daily lives have been affected by environmental changes.
The project combines verbatim theatre training, environmental education, and active youth engagement. It creates space for dialogue between citizens, experts, and local communities, using theatre as a tool to raise awareness, build empathy, and encourage collective reflection on climate challenges and the protection of the sea. Through a genuine and community-driven approach, the production demonstrates how art can amplify real voices and contribute to meaningful social and environmental change.
