DILETTA HUYSKES
Diletta focuses on the ethics, culture and social impact of technology and artificial intelligence, particularly in relation to existing inequalities. Her research examines the use of automated processes in contexts involving high-stakes decision-making, the socio-cultural values involved in their design and use, and their consequences for society. As a researcher, she has worked at the Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK) in Trento, where she focused on data and process ethics, and at Utrecht University. Following a PhD in Sociology, she is currently a postdoctoral researcher in Philosophy and Technology at the University of Milan.
In 2023, she co-founded Immanence, the Italian company that assesses the impacts and risks of digital technologies and AI and offers solutions to ensure ethics, non-discrimination and accountability, of which she is currently co-CEO. She is a board member of Privacy Network, an Italian NGO dedicated to digital rights, which she has been part of since 2020. She is a member of the ethics committee of the Veronesi Foundation, an external member of the committee of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Italy established by the United Nations, and of the AI Act Advisory Forum, set up to advise the European Commission on the implementation of the European AI Regulation. Tecnologia della rivoluzione (Il Saggiatore, 2024) is her first book.
