The video presents “Young People for Climate in Lesvos,” a community-led initiative by Om Eressos under the “Adopt an Oak” framework, engaging local councils, schools, youth, refugees, LGBTQI+ community members, local entrepreneurs and residents across Western Lesvos, including Eressos, Skala Eressos, Antissa and nearby areas.
Through beach clean-ups, recycled art workshops, permaculture design, seed conservation, composting, textile upcycling, theatre activities, school awareness sessions and a visit to the Hydrousa wastewater treatment plant, the project connected climate action with creativity, education and community participation. With 705 in-person participants, including more than 500 high school students, and nearly 30,000 people reached online, the initiative highlighted how local youth and communities can respond collectively to the climate crisis while promoting circular practices, environmental care and social inclusion.
